Andhra Pradesh State Schemes for Persons with Disabilities by Department for the Welfare of women,Children,Disabled and Senior Citizen

1. State Disability Pension

This is called Viklangata Pension and contributed by State and Central government such as Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension scheme.  The sum amount of the pension is Rs 500/- per month. It is administered by the Department of Rural Development in the State of Andhra Pradesh.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. The age of the disabled shall be above 1 year, hereby means that there is no age bar. Those who are diagnosed with disability at any age , can avail this scheme.
  2. Minimum 40%  of disability
  3. The applicant must belongs to Below the Poverty Line (BPL)
  4. Should be resident of the State of Andhra Pradesh

Documents required

  1. Disability certificate
  2. BPL card number (white and red card)
  3. Resident proof
  4. Passport size photograph

Procedure for application

  1. At rural level: applicant needs to approach  Mandal development Office/Taluka Office
  2. At urban level: applicant  needs Tahsildar and Mandal Development Office

Application form MBPY-I may be obtained from the Office of the Block Development Officer or  Executive Officer or Municipality / NAC,  or Gram Panchayat Head quarters at free of cost.

Mode of payment

 The pension is credited monthly, where feasible into a post office or public sector Bank account of the applicant.

2.  Bus concession

The persons with vision impairment are entitled to free bus journey in the city and in the suburban buses with escorts. In case of services operating in rural areas, these persons with disabilities are allowed 50 % concession in normal fares. Escorts to person with visual impairment and mental retardation are allowed when accompanying them. These escorts are charged a nominal fee of Rs.5/- per head per month for travel by city buses and at 50 % concession by mofussil buses.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. 100% disability  or complete blindness
  2. The eligibility is only for unemployed person with vision impairment.
  3. He/she should not be in receipt of conveyance allowance by any other source
  4. Resident of Andhra Pradesh

  1. Disability certificate
  2. Resident proof
  3. Passport size photo

Procedure for application

 Applicant can directly approach to the Andhra Pradesh State Road transport corporation (APSTRC) to avail the Bus pass after applying in a prescribed format along with required documents.

3. Incentive Award for Marriage between Disabled and Non- Disabled

 State of Andhra Pradesh is giving grants for marriage between disabled and non –disabled, which is administered by the Department for the Welfare of  Disabled & Senior Citizen. The lump sum money is Rs 50,000/- given at once to the married couple where, one partner or both partner is disabled.

Eligibility Criteria

  1.  Incentive award can be given to either of the spouse with disability if a non -disabled marries a person with disability
  2. They should not have availed the incentive award under this scheme earlier
  3. The bridegroom and bride must have completed 21 years and 18 years of age respectively at the time of marriage.

Documents required

  1. Disability certificate

  2. Marriage registration certificate issued by the competent authority of marriage

  3. Three post card size joint photograph of the couple self attested

  4. Residential certificate issued by the tahsildar or ration card Adhaar card

Procedure for application

 Application form can be obtained from the Assistant Director, Welfare of Disabled and Senior Citizens at district headquarters and need to be submitted at the same place. Tahsildar designated as verification officer and will verify the application ad documents .The couple shall be physically present on the date of the verification officer along with required original certificate and with other details.

Mode of Payment

The lump sum money is given to the couple through cash.

4. Educational Scholarship

There is post matric scholarship and reimbursement of tuition fees to the eligible persons with disabilities for various courses. Schemes are administered by the department of welfare of disabled and senior citizen, Hyderabad. For more details, applicant can contact to Dept for the welfare of  Women,Children, Disabled and Senior Citizens.

5. Unemployment allowance

State doesn't impliment unemployment allowance scheme for Persons with Disabilities.
