I –Stem along with their partners are organizing their Annual Hackathon to bring abled and differently abled people together on January 17 & 18, 2020 at IIIT Bangalore to hack on social impact problems.
The event has four components.
1. Inclusive Stem Hackathon: This is a 24 Hrs. hackathon from January 17 afternoon to January 18 afternoon where participants with and without disabilities (including invisible disabilities) with prior programming experience work together on projects to empower people with disabilities in education, employment or social connection. Teams will be formed ahead of the event and will be encouraged to discuss their projects.
2. Workshops: As a part of the confluence, we will be organizing workshops on "disability 101" and "accessibility in code" for participants without disabilities, and on a series of technical topics including AI and machine learning, blockchain etc. for participants with disabilities on the morning of 17th January. Participants are also invited to register as visitors if they cannot participate in the hackathon but would just like to attend the workshops. Workshops are open to participants with any computing experience.
3. Employment connect: This is an opportunity for the participants with disabilities to network with corporate representatives for potential career opportunities on the afternoon of January 17. We will also be holding an employer's roundtable to discuss diversity and inclusion in corporates.
4. Assistive technology expo: This will be an opportunity for assistive technology startups/developers to share their work with the broader differently- abled community.
