VADODARA: A Delhi-based cybersecurity expert, who can capture images despite being blind since birth, a youth from Valsad, who has designed technologies to recycle industrial waste, and an 18-year-old girl from the city hailed as ‘PAD girl of Vadodara’ – were among the speakers who inspired young minds as they delivered their idea-focused talks at TEDx Sayajigunj organized at Laxmi Vilas Palace on Sunday.
Pranav Lal, who uses a technology that works as an artificial eye, converting the sights around him to sound, stressed that there is no reason for a blind man not to have vision anymore.
“For India, this is one of the least expensive solution for a large population of blind. Now, you can use artificial eye to detect remote objects. All you need is to train yourself,” said Lal, who uses a device called vOICe – brainchild of Dutch inventor Peter Meijer that converts images to sound.
