Indian Association for the Visually Handicapped (IAVH) announces four new
one - day courses.

Pioneer in the field of training the visually impaired, "Ms Shilpi Kedia" will be leading different courses which are most desired by people with visual impairments.

•     How do I write a professional email? What makes a document presentable? These questions are quite common for a visually impaired person at work. The "Intermediate Microsoft Word" course has been designed to train you in doing just that and much more!

•     Performing calculations, sorting data, reading data of a huge table etc. are very confusing in Excel. How do I do it with JAWS is my biggest worry? The "Intermediate Microsoft Excel" course will help you learn that and much more!

•     A quick course on accessing the Internet with JAWS, including navigating web pages, reading tables, filling up forms and adding place markers are some of the topics covered under the "Basic Internet" course.

•     On the Internet, one comes across complex web pages where it becomes
difficult to access the information using JAWS. In the "Advance Internet" course you'll be taught how to handle complex web pages, what is RSS, how does one use it or how to read a PDF document … and much more!

All the four courses will be held over the span of 5 weeks and the best part
is that each course is just one day long!

The courses will be held at the IAVH centre, Churchgate and will be lead by
Ms Shilpi Kedia & Ms Priti Rohra.

Registration fees for each course is Rs 250/-

Prerequisites for the courses are: Good English reading and writing skills, Basic knowledge of JAWS and Microsoft Windows.

Short term computer course for visually impaired

This is an initiative from Mitra Jyothi - Enable India team towards giving quality computer training for visually impaired people who are working or studying and not able to attend regular computer training. Main goal of this course is to increase the knowledge on Computer Basics and making them efficient in using computers independently. This will increase the employment opportunities, betterment of existing job, and for higher studies.

Duration of this Training is 2 months.
Course Details:-
The course starts on 21st April 2008 – 14th June 2008. Timings will be
10:00am-5:00pm. The training will be held at Mitra Jyothi premise. The
seats available are 10.

Who are eligible?
1. Any visually impaired person, who's educational qualification
should be 10th pass and above.
2. Who want to use computer skills for their education/ employment,
and having good communication English, and basic knowledge of
mathematics.

Joining Procedure:
1. Candidates have to register in Mitra Jyothi for Short term computer course.
2. The registration fee for the course is Rs. 200.
3. Candidates have to attend the evaluation test before the training
starts as per the Evaluation dates

Evaluation Dates: 4th, 5th, 11th and 12th April 2008.
Note: Candidates will be considered as eligible only if they pass the
evaluation tests.
Accommodation facility is available.
