Its informative, yet very entertaining presentation has won millions of hearts across India. Content of the showEach week this 30 minute radio programme features an interview, an advice section, profile of an overseas blind achiever, a contest, useful and interesting information on eye and blindness and lots of good music. The programme also features upcoming artists and showcases new talents of visually impaired people.
The show is a good blend of information with entertainment. The profiles section is presented by celebrities like Om Puri, Nandita Das, Vinod Nagpal, Ameen Sayani, Naseeruddin Shah, Harsha Bhogle, Tom Alter, Sushma Seth and many more celebrities to come. The interview section features real life heroes. They share their inspiring success stories with our audience. Dilip Loyalka, Chartered Accountant in Kolkata; Dr Prithvish Nag, Director, National Atlas and Thematic Mapping Organisation; Garimella Subramanian, journalist at the Hindu and Sushama Agrawal, Professor of Mathematics, University of Chennai are just a few of them, who have demonstrated well that blindness cannot be a barrier to one's success.
Eyeway Yeh Hai Roshni Ka Karwan packs in a lot more than just inspiration. It offers expert advice on vital topics like bringing up blind children, government initiatives, unconventional employment opportunities for visually impaired persons, different eye conditions & eye care, personality development etc.
Creating waves in just six months
Eyeway Yeh Hai Roshni Ka Karwan was first broadcasted, in Delhi on 17th November 2005 at 9.30pm. In its first year, the show was aired on the Primary Channels of All India Radio in six cities, namely: Delhi, Luknow, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Hyderabad. Within a short time of six months we realized with the incoming letters and voicemails that the show has generated a good listener base and is serving its purpose of informing, inspiring and empowering people with visual impairment. The karawan of listeners is on the rise. The show in its second year from 2 May 2007, now airs from 29 stations of AIR Vividhbharti. Programme ScheduleStarting from 2nd May 2007, Eyeway Yeh Hai Roshni Ka Karawan is being broadcast on 29 stations of Vividhbharti of All India Radio. Now you can listen to it on every Wednesday 9 pm as per the following station & frequency details.
Internet broadcastingPeople around the world can listen to our show on the internet. Each episode can be heard from this webpage for seven days after it is aired on Wednesday 9 pm on vividhbharti. The programme is anchored by radio artists Salima Raza and Arshad Iqbal who take the Karwan on a fun-filled trip in their inimitable way. Salimaji is an accomplished radio and theatre artist with over 50 years experience in the medium, while Arshad is a young artist with a penchant for mimicry with which he regales listeners. He is also a sought after voice artist for advertising jingles and promos. Together, they bring a sense of great adventure and fun to the half-hour radio show.
