Reservation in Educational Institutions To ensure that the students with disabilities who have fair access to higher and technical education, 3% seats in educational institutions are reserved for them. Besides, the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment supports 500 Scholarships for students for pursuing their studies at Post School Level. Scheme for integrated education for the disabled children (iedc) This is a centrally sponsored scheme carried out by the Department of Education since 1982. The basic objective of the scheme is to integrate the handicapped children in the normal school system. Hundred per cent assistance is provided to the states/Union Territories for education of handicapped children in common schools with the help of necessary aids, incentives and specially trained teachers. The disabled children are provided the following allowance and facilities under the scheme: -

Children’s educational allowance for disabled employees A disabled child of a central government employees
is entitled to get educational allowance of Rupees 50 a month. Also provided
tuition fees of Rs.50/ a month and hostel subsidy of Rs.150/ a month subject
to conditions. (OM no.21011/21/88-Estt dated 17.01.88). Download
