Facilities and concessions in Himachal Pradesh

1. Concerned officer

2. Reservation

(a) In Government job : In Grade `C' and `D' posts under the Government reservation are provided in direct recruitment for physically disabled persons as indicated below :

One out of 15 posts are reserved in Public Sector Undertaking's (PSU's) and Board / Corporations.

(b) In Educational institutions : 5% seats in I.T.I's are reserved for disabled.

(c) In Shops/stalls : 20% stalls of Municipal Corporation are reserved for P.H person.

3. Age relaxation

The upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years for disabled persons for applying in Government jobs.

4. Scholarship/Stipend

The State Government awards scholarship to disabled students from Class I to VIII. For detail pl. contact Director, Social Welfare Department.

5. Maintenance allowance / Scholarship (through institutions / NGOs)

An amount of Rupees 60 per month is given to leprosy cured person as maintenance allowance through NGO's.

6. Disability pension / Social Security pension

Disability pension of Rupees 100 per month for those whose individual income is less than Rupees 2,000 per month There is no age limit.

7. Unemployment allowance

Disabled persons registered in employment exchange, get unemployment allowance. For detail pl. contact Director, Social Welfare Department.

8. Conveyance allowance

Conveyance allowance @ Rupees 75 per month is available to the Government employees.

9. Bus concession

Disabled persons get free bus travel facility.

10. Assistance for self-employment

Assistance upto Rupees 2,500 is given for self-employment.

11. Incentive for marrying disabled persons

The State Government gives Rupees 5,000 as marriage incentive to normal person marrying a disabled person.

12. Assistance for purchase of aids and appliances

Full reimbursement of Aids and Appliances whose monthly income is less than Rupees 1,200 is made while 50% discount is given to those whose income is between Rupees 1,201 to Rupees 2,500 per month Maximum subsidy is Rupees 5,000 per beneficiary.

13. Other concessions

• Special cell in employment exchange for disabled
• Rupees 120 per month for leprosy cured person whose individual income is less than Rupees 2,000 per month.
• Vocational training : Free training and accommodation is provided to the disabled.
