Hand-held with desktop powers

The new hand-held PC, called the Modular Computing Core (M.C.C.), which has the functionality of a normal desktop computer, is as small as a Palm.

Antelope Technologies, which has licensed the design of M.C.C. from I.B.M., claims that the product is the most "advanced mobile computer". It has normal features of a desktop computer: a processor, a hard drive, memory, video card, audio
card, and Windows X.P. Professional. The company also says that aside from the small size, what is unique is the modularity. The external power supply, the visual display, the communications and input/output connectors are all packaged separately from the core, and are transformed into modular shells and accessories that are personalized according to individual preferences and work environment.

The M.C.C has the functionality of a normal desktop computer, but it is condensed into a small 7.6 x 12.7 x 1.9 cm (3" x 5" x 3/4") package that is very similar to the size of a P.D.A. or laptop battery. The M.C.C. runs the full Windows X.P.T.M. Professional operating system.

1. The M.C.C. contains the following list of 8 items:
2. Highly power efficient Transmitter Crusoe Processor at 1 GHz using the long Run advanced power management technology.
3. 256 MB of DDR-SDRAM Main Memory
4. 10 GB (or optional 15 GB) Hard Drive with a shock rating of 200g operational and 1000g non-operational
5. 2D/3D Graphics supporting analog and L.V.D.S. displays at 1280x1024 maximum resolution, Sound Blaster Compatible Stereo Audio supporting microphone in, stereo out, and line out, Dense 160 pin Modular Computing Docking connector, Windows X.P. Pro, or other optional standard operating systems.
6. Plug and play compatibility.
