The Executive Director Blind Relief Association, Delhi The library has a Cassette Recording Studio for text books, and caters to the JPM School for the Blind as well as to post graduates and undergraduates from colleges of Delhi University. Cassettes are also supplied, on request, to institutions in and out of Delhi. Duplicates of existing cassettes are provided to students. The Unit records text books, novels, general books and magazines. The books are recorded on master cassettes and duplicated for individuals and organisations on a loan basis, free of charge. Rotary Helen Keller Talking Book Library (ROHTALK), Tamilnadu A non-governmental organisation based at Madurai, the project extends services to visually impaired persons by providing talking books for home-based study and for referral study at the library. Membership is open to any visually impaired person for a membership fee of Rupees 50. A disability certificate issued by a competent authority is required. Members are provided a maximum of five books at a time (in cassette form) for a period of one week. These are also available through post. ROHTALK has books on the following topics:

Library The centre produces hundreds of talking books every year covering a range of topics from school and university textbooks to classics, fiction, poetry and short stories. Persons above 5 years of age can avail the services by depositing a refundable security deposit of Rupees 100 for five audiocassettes. Institutional membership is for Rupees 1,000. N.A.B.-Delhi is also a resource centre for the implementation of DAISY Digital Talking Book production and dissemination in India. All new books recorded at their Talking Book Library from November 2002 are recorded in digital format and are now available both on CD and in audiocassettes. Contact details:

The list includes popular titles such as Bill Clinton reading out My Life to you, David Beckham’s My Slide, APJ Abdul Kalam’s Wings of Fire narrated by Girish Karnad, Shakespeare plays and so on. There are books to learn and improve English language, and listening skills. The collection is available to the residents of Pune and there is an annual library subscription. Association Victoria Memorial School, Maharashtra A library unit for visually impaired has been added to its activities list. The state-of-the-art library is called `VMS-Navnit Shah Library Information and Resource Centre'. This is claimed to be the first of its kind in the country, it has ‘Braille’ books, 'talking' books such as recorded cassettes and CDs, has Reading Machines, an enlargement equipment to help those with low vision. School For The Blind American Printing House for the Blind (APH) It provides free subscriptions to Reader's Digest, Newsweek and other magazines on disposable audiocassettes. Reader's Digest is provided in Braille. This is a resource of information about blindness, visual handicaps and other handicaps. It links to about 2300 individual links, organized by subject. The site offers information in alternative formats (braille, recorded cassettes, large print, e-texts, web audio accessible by people with print disabilities - those with visual and physical handicaps as well as dyslexia. Christian Record Services, Inc It has a lending library of books in Braille, large print materials, and cassette tapes. Choice Magazine Listening (CML) The choice magazine offers selected articles from popular print magazines on special-speed, 4-track audiocassette, available through the Library of Congress. It provides free service nationwide to eligible persons. Jewish Braille Institute of America It provides talking books, Braille and large-print books and also offers counseling and referrals to low vision care in the U.S. Matilda Ziegler Magazine for the Blind It circulates throughout the world and endowment provides for free distribution to legally blind people. There is no print edition and Is published in contracted braille, four-track/half-speed cassette, e-mail and diskette. It’s a lively and entertaining monthly that reprints articles covering a wide range of interests from the foremost newspapers and periodicals. National Library Service for Blind and physically handicapped (NLS) It provides free library service to individuals with visual impairments and offers Braille and large print materials and recorded books and periodicals. Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic (RFBandD) Provides free cassette tapes, textbooks for students, and materials needed for occupational pursuits. It is a not-for-profit, special education library which provide textbooks, novels, and other materials on audio tapes to those who have difficulty reading due to physical, cognitive, visual or learning disabilities. The Jewish Guild for the Blind It provides free audio library services to individuals with visual impairments by mail (1600 titles, primarily best sellers), and a national radio reading service, broadcasting 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. The Perkins Braille and Talking Book Library, Massachusetts The Library provides free services to Massachusetts
residents of any age who are unable to read traditional print materials
due to a visual or physical disability. The library works on both a walk-in and mail-order system.
