Diplomate of the National Board (Opthalmology)

The institute is recognised by the Diplomate of the National Board. The institute offers the best in surgical techniques and allows one to master all there is in the field of ophthalmology. Government of India has recognised it as a centre of excellence and deputes surgeons from various parts of the country to be trained here in the intraocular lens implantation, corneal transplantation and in the field of paediatric ophthalmology.

Eligibility: M.B.B.S. from a medical college recognised by the Medical Council of India and should have passed the Part 1 examinations conducted by the board.

Documentation of prior educational and work experience is required for applicants to the program. The candidates are required to write an entrance exam and attend a further interview before final selection.

Eye Care Manager

Eligibility: G raduate with working knowledge of English and Tamil.

Duration: Two years (including one year of internship)

No. of Seats: N.A.

Admission Prerequisites: Documentation of prior educational and work experience is required for applicants to the program. Applications must include the following:

  • A completed training course application form.
  • Official transcript(s) from the most recent schools/colleges attended.
  • Curriculum vitae.

The Admissions Committee will request that the eligible applicant come for an interview following receipt of all necessary information.

More Information:

  • The course is recognised as a post graduate diploma under the Chandrashekara Saraswathy deemed university .
  • This course is designed to meet the need for trained health care professionals who can effectively manage various activities and available resources.
  • The eye care manager would not only learn how to effectively manage but would be trained in the basics of ophthalmology, out patient procedures, surgical techniques, eye banking and in the planning and organisation of effective out reach services.
  • The course offers a person to not only qualify as an assistant to an ophthalmologist but opens opportunities in the management cadre of speciality eye care institutions.

Vision Care Technician

Eligibility: Applicants must have either completed high school or passed a high school equivalency test. Preference will be shown to applicants who have completed college level courses and/or have some ocular-related work experience.

Duration: One year

  • A completed training course application form.
  • Official transcript(s) from the most recent schools/colleges attended.
  • Curriculum vitae.

More Information:

  • Ophthalmic assistants assist ophthalmologists in serving their patients. By initiating patient exams, measuring and recording visual status, performing diagnostic procedures, and assisting in clinical and surgical settings, ophthalmic assistants are valuable members of the eye care team.
  • This course is to recognize the need for well-trained ophthalmic medical technicians.
  • During the course, students will attend classes and work under supervision in eye care clinics. Those successfully completing the year's course of study will receive a certificate from Sankara eye Center as an vision care technician.
