R.C.I.'s Degree Level Courses

B.Ed (Special Education)

Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education (visual impairment) / B.A. and B.Ed. (visual impairment)

Master of Special Education / M.Ed. (Special Education)

B.Ed (Special Education)

Course content: The course imparts knowledge on nature and needs of various disabilities - an introduction, education in emerging Indian society, educational management, curriculum designing, and research.

Eligibility: B.A. or B.Sc. with one of the school teaching subjects as the area of study at graduate level. The eligibility for admission is 500/0 aggregate in the qualifying degree examination.

Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education (visual impairment) / B.A. and B.Ed. (visual impairment)

Course content: The course is provided by the National Institute for the Visually Handicapped, Dehra Dun (affiliated to the I-INB Garhwal University,Srinagar). It will cover subjects like English language and literature, policies concerning education of the visual impairment etc. The practicals would cover observation in Special and inclusive schools, etc.

Eligibility: Intermediate pass of the Board of High School and Intermediate Education, Uttar Pradesh or of an Indian University incorporated by any law for the time being in force, or any other examination recognised by the university as equivalent thereto.

  • A candidate who has pursued a regular course of study for one academic session at N.I.VH. shall be eligible to appear at the B.A., B.Ed (V.1.) Part I examination.
  • A candidate who, after passing the B. A, B. Ed. (V. I.) Part I examination of the four-year degree course has completed a regular course of study for one academic session at N.I.V.H. shall be eligible to appear at the B. A., B. Ed. (V. I) Part II examination.
  • A Candidate who, after passing the B.A, B. Ed. (V. I. ) Part II examination, of the four-year degree course has completed a regular course of study for one academic session at N.I.V.H. shall be eligible to appear at the B.A B. Ed. (V. I.) Part III examination.
  • A candidate who, after passing the B.A, B. Ed. (V. I. ) Part III examination of the Four years Degree Course has completed a regular course of study for one academic session at N.I.VH. shall be eligible to appear at the B. A., B. Ed. (V. I.) Part IV examination.

Duration: Four years

Master of Special Education / M.Ed. (Special Education)

Course content: The course imparts knowledge on foundations in special education, advanced educational psychology and human development, research methodology and statistics, etc.

Eligibility: The admission for this course is open to:

  • A candidate who has successfully passed B.Ed (Special Education) from a recognised university or any other degree considered equivalent to B.Ed. (Special Education) from an affiliating university and/ or teaching department under any university recognised by U.G.C.
  • A candidate who has successfully passed the B.Ed General course and has successfully completed a one year diploma course in special Education recognised by the Rehabilitation Council of India

Duration: One year
