Community Based Rehabilitation

CBR (Community Based Rehabilitation) is a strategy that promotes the best possible integration of persons with disabilities without separating them from their family, their community and the society they are familiar with.

CBR has global recognition and is accepted in all countries in the world and is supported by UN organisations such as WHO, ILO, UNICFF, UNESCO etc.

To work with persons with disabilities requires knowledge, skills, aptitude and appropriate attitude. There is a tremendous need for adequately trained and rightly oriented personnel to work in these rehabilitation programs. This would ensure that persons with disabilities obtained the best services with the latest technology and care.

Employment Opportunities after doing CBR programs

How is Bangalore University and CBR Network playing a role in CBR program?

Bangalore University and CBR Network have jointly started CBR personnel training programs. The objective of the training program is to empower persons with disabilities by facilitating them to integrate into mainstream development programs.

Thus the Bangalore University courses provide a new dimension to employment creation in society. The courses not only provide employment to the unemployed persons but also provide high quality service to the most marginalized sections of society.

The courses are accredited to Rehabilitation Council of India, a statutory body formed by an act of parliament and the premier accreditation body for all training program for disability related subjects.

The courses are offered on distance mode and dual mode. This means that students enrolled on any other program with any other university may also enroll for these courses. For e.g. If a student is enrolled for a degree course at one university, he or she may also enroll for the diploma course in CBR at Bangalore University. At the end of degree program, the student will also have an additional diploma which would enable her to start a career in rehabilitation immediately.

There are 154 study centers all over the country which facilitate learning in students by helping them in their practical assignments. In the last batch over 300 students enrolled for the courses.
