Mitra Jyothi is a registered charitable trust formed in 1990 working
for visually impaired and other disabled in their education, training,
and employment. At present their activities are as follows:
1. Talking book library to provide educational and general books on audio cassettes to the blind students
2. Computer training to the blind students
3. Braille transcription centre to provide Braille books to the needy blind students
4. Independent living skill training to the blind women
5. Job placement service to the disabled and blind
CCCT (Career Centric Computer Training) Basic
Mitra Jyothi’s new batch for English-Basic computer training for Visually impaired will commence on July 6th 2009 with the technical collaboration with EnAble India.
Goals of the course:
The course emphasis the students to gain computer knowledge and use it for employment in roles which require dual language usage (regional and English).
Details of course:
Course duration: 9 months
Timings: 9:30AM to 5:00PM.
Days: Monday to Saturday.
Brief Curriculum Details: English - Spellings, Written communication, listening comprehension, soft skills.
Computer Training - Basic Windows Applications, Windows Explorer, Help, Word, Introduction to excel & Internet
Registration Fee: Rs.200
Course fee: free
Accommodation: Accommodation facility is available in Mitra Jyothi premises on a monthly charge of Rs.1000.
Note: There is a refundable amount of Rs.500 to be paid by each candidate. This amount will be refunded at the end of the course only if the candidate has 90% presence in the class.
Criteria for selection:
- Educational Qualification could be - SSLC/PUC/Graduation.
- Communication - Should be good at communicating in regional language.
- Aptitude - Should be good at basic maths
- Listening Comprehension - Should be good.

Courses Offered:
1. Basic Computer training using Jaws. Following are the topics:
- Opening files and programs.
- Reading/Navigation in document.
- Editing the document.
- Working with different dialog boxes.
- Managing files and folders.
- Getting information of any application using help.
- Customizing JAWS for improving the accessibility and efficiency.
- Preparing neatly formatted error free document in Microsoft Word.
- preparing the excel sheet
- Working with internet – browsing the website, searching information, E-mail, online chatting
- Exposure to real world and attitude building.
- Employment sessions
- Field Trip such as visiting Bank, Post office etc.
2. Simple spoken English Course. emphasis will be on following points:
- Student understands and comprehends English well (listening comprehension)
- Student is able to communicate in English – emphasis will be on clarity of thought, flow
and simple but correct grammar.
- Student is capable of writing letters and documents clearly in simple English.
- Student has good spellings in the vocabulary that they have learnt.
- Student has enough confidence to use their presence of mind and speak extempore in English smoothly.

Mitra Jyothi - Tech Mahindra Computer Training For Visually Impaired (Technical Collaboration with EnAble India)
Please note that the next (second) batch of this computer training course begins on 20 January 2010. The evaluation dates for being admitted to this course are 1-2 January 2010. Details are given below.
Course Details:
This is an initiative of Mitra Jyothi and Tech Mahindra team with Technical collaboration from EnAble India for an advanced computer-training course for the Visually Impaired. The main goal of this course is to increase the potential for employment opportunities for the visually impaired by training them in UNIX, SQL, DBMS and general programming techniques. Employment opportunities would be primarily in software product and services companies in the areas of production support, service management, technical help desk, technical level 2 support, end user support, database support, configuration management. This course will also provide the basics for candidates who are interested in testing, programming, database administration and network administration.
Duration: 6 Months
Timings: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Saturday
Date: 20 January 2010 to 30 June 2010

Who is eligible?
- Any visually impaired person with a degree in any field.
- Candidate should have basic computer knowledge such as editing, dialog box, file/folder management, basic concepts in MS word / excel and internet.
- Should have good communication in English, and good knowledge of Mathematics.
- Preference will be given to women candidates

- Candidates have to register at Mitra Jyothi
- The registration fee for the course is Rs. 200.
- Refundable amount of Rs.500 (refundable for students with 90% attendance)
- Candidates have to attend the evaluation test before the training starts (evaluation can also be done online or over the phone if he/she cannot come in person)
