This section profiles persons with visual impairments who have excelled in their fields. Some of them have been blind since birth, while others have developed visual impairments later in their lives. What's common to all of these people is their drive to excel and their will to overcome odds.
The profiles are divided into two main categories: Indian achievers and international achievers. These two categories are further sub-divided into areas of excellence such as music, politics, art, etc. Click on the name of the person who interests you to read their fascinating accounts. Yang Jia
Yang was inflicted with an eye disorder known as 'macular degeneration', leaving her completely blind. Despite such obvious visual impairments, Yang was able to achieve excellent marks, distinguishing herself as the first, ever, foreign blind student in the history of Harvard
