- The Rehabilitation Council of India conducts a short-term three-week course called the Foundation Course. It is a distance mode course, with a test on the last day of the course. - An important dimension of the National Council of Educational Research and Training's (N.C.E.R.T.) activities is the pre-service and in-service training of teachers at the pre-primary, elementary, secondary and higher secondary levels, and also in such areas as vocational education, educational technology, guidance and counselling, and special education. The pre-service teacher education programmes at the Regional Institutes of Education (R.I.E.s) incorporate innovative features such as integration of content and methodology of teaching, long-term internship of teacher trainees in the actual classroom setting, and participation of students in community work. The R.I.E.s also undertake the training of key personnel of the states and of state level institutions and training of teacher educators and in-service teachers.
