Intangible benefits
Inclusive education would mean opening the benefits of education to many children with disabilities, children who would otherwise not have any education – and hence a shot at better opportunities – at all.
Non-disabled children
who study in inclusive set-ups would grow up to be more aware and sensitised
citizens – aware of not only the issues connected with disability, but
also of the fact that disability is not a limiting factor for a happy, productive
life.
Such children would also make empowered and sensitive policy-makers, architects, legislators, journalists, corporate heads, administrators, etc. Our country needs more such people to truly provide an equal playing field for disabled and non-disabled citizens alike.
Inclusive education holds the key to an inclusive India.
