Apartment building for visually impaired tenants
http://www.wcsh6.com/home/article.asp?id=22822
The Iris Network has set new milestones for housing development for people
who are blind or visually impaired.
‘Iris Park Apartments’ will go up on the Iris Network's park avenue
campus in Portland. There will be 30 units designed specifically for people
with vision loss. The units will have all sorts of modifications, including
tactile signage, and walls and flooring with high amounts of contrast.
In addition, the Iris network will provide vision-related services, including assistance with transportation, reading mail and using medications.
The project has been approved by the Maine State Housing Authority for low income housing tax credits. The target date for completion is December 2006.
