Visually impaired in Tamil Nadu seek implementation of schemes

All India Awareness Welfare Association of the Blind has pleaded to the government of Tamil Nadu to implement the schemes and concessions for the blind and handicapped persons announced by the Chief Minister, under Section 110 in the Assembly.

Mr. N K Chokkalingam, President of the association said, “The Government should encourage the visually impaired persons who are doing their M.Phil and Phd and provide them with Rupees 50,000/- and Rupees 2,00,000/- respectively as stipend or as loan with subsidy”. He also requested the state government to give employment to the blind persons who are eligible for lecturer positions.

The association urged Chief Minister, Jayalalitha to keep the department of handicapped under her direct control.
